Types of Cement
1. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)
IS 269 / IS 8112 / IS 12269
- Most common cement
- Used where early strength is needed

- OPC 33 Grade
- OPC 43 Grade
- OPC 53 Grade
2. Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC)
IS 1489
- Contains fly ash or calcined clay
- Less heat of hydration
- Better long-term durability
- Most preferred for residential buildings

Houses, apartments, plastering, masonry
3. Portland Slag Cement (PSC)
IS 455
- Made using blast furnace slag
- High resistance to chemicals and corrosion
✅ Used in:
Coastal areas, marine works, sewage plants
(Recommended for cities like Mangalore)
4. Rapid Hardening Cement
- Gains strength very quickly
- Similar to OPC 53 but faster
✅ Used in:
Road repairs, urgent construction works
5. Sulphate Resisting Cement (SRC)
- Low C₃A content
- Resists sulphate attack
✅ Used in:
Foundations in sulphate-rich soil, coastal construction
6. Low Heat Cement
- Generates less heat during hydration
✅ Used in:
Dams, large foundations, mass concrete structures
7. White Cement
- Low iron content
✅ Used in:
Tiles fixing, decorative works, grouting
8. Colored Cement
- White cement + pigments
✅ Used in:
Interior & exterior decorative finishes
